This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use if you had an allergic reaction to mometasone.How to Use This Medicine:
Implant
- Your doctor will insert this medicine inside one of your sinuses using a Delivery System. It will dissolve and slowly release the medicine for up to 90 days. Your doctor may remove the implant at Day 90 or earlier.
- Use saline irrigations (nasal wash) or nasal sprays regularly while having this implant.
- Be extra careful when sneezing and avoid forceful nose blowing during treatment with this medicine. The implant softens over time and may accidentally be removed from your nose. Call your doctor right away if you think the implant has been removed from your nose.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Some medicines can affect how mometasone works. Tell your doctor if you are using ketoconazole.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease, any infection (including tuberculosis, herpes infection of the eye), a recent exposure to measles or chickenpox, or a history of cataracts, glaucoma, or an increased pressure in the eye. Tell your doctor if you have had nose surgery, a nose injury, or sores or ulcers in your nose.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:
- Bleeding, holes, infection, or irritation inside the nose
- Eye or vision problems
- Increased risk of infection
- Adrenal gland problems
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Burning, redness, swelling, or irritation around or inside your nose
- Chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Dark freckles, skin color changes, coldness, weakness, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, weight loss
- Ear pain, redness, or swelling
- Eye pain, blurred or changes in vision
- Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches
- Heavy or unexplained bleeding from your nose, bleeding that will not stop
- Lightheadedness, fainting
- Sores or white patches inside the nose or mouth
