This medicine is generally considered safe for most people. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.How to Use This Medicine:
Liquid, Pad
- Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
- You will receive Eskata in a clinic or doctor's office. A nurse or other trained health professional will give you the medicine using an applicator.
- This medicine is for use on the skin only. Do not get it get in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away with water. Do not use this medicine over large areas of your body.
- Follow the instructions on the medicine label if you are using this medicine without a prescription.
- Wash your hands with soap and water before and after you use this medicine.
- Clean the affected area, and then apply a small amount of medicine.
- If you are going to use a bandage, let the treated area dry before you cover it.
- Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
- Missed dose: Call your doctor or pharmacist for instructions.
- Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Do not use on deep wounds, puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns, unless your doctor says it is okay.
- If you are using this medicine without a prescription, do not use it for more than 1 week unless your doctor tells you to.
- Eskata can cause severe eye problems. If it accidentally gets into your eyes, your doctor will tell you to rinse them well with water for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse. Your doctor may want to retreat you with Eskata after at least 3 weeks if your skin condition did not completely resolve.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Eye irritation, pain, redness, or swelling, blindness
- Skin burning, itching, pain, rash, redness, stinging, or swelling
