This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to tropicamide.How to Use This Medicine:
Liquid, Drop
- A nurse or other health provider will give you this medicine. This medicine is given by dropping it into your eye.
- If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before you receive the eye drops.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
- Some medicines can affect how tropicamide works. Tell your doctor if you are using carbachol or pilocarpine.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:
- Mood or mental changes
- Increased pressure in the eye
- This medicine may cause blurred vision or make your eyes sensitive to light. Wear sunglasses while you are using this medicine. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you. Do not drive until your pupils are no longer dilated.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night, increased sensitivity of eyes to sunlight
- Fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat or pulse
- Irritation of the clear front part of the eye
- Mood or mental changes, unusual behavior
If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Dry mouth
- Headache, nausea, or vomiting
- Muscle cramps
- Pale skin
If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by this medicine, tell your doctor
